Academic Integrity Policy
Academic Integrity Policy
Policy Effective Date: March 2025
Eldermont University is committed to truth, honesty, and ethical scholarship in all aspects of learning. As a faith-based institution, we view academic integrity as both a spiritual and academic responsibility (Colossians 3:23, Proverbs 10:9).
What Is Academic Integrity?
Academic integrity means completing all academic work truthfully, independently, and with proper acknowledgment of others’ ideas.
Violations include (but are not limited to):
• Plagiarism: Using someone else’s work—whether written, spoken, or AI-generated—without citation.
• Cheating: Copying, sharing answers, or receiving unauthorized help.
• Falsification: Fabricating data, research, or documents.
• Misrepresentation: Submitting work that is not your own or lying about academic matters.
“You shall not steal.” — Exodus 20:15“Each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully.” — Ephesians 4:25
Our Approach
Eldermont’s unique structure includes Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), research-based coursework, and thesis/dissertation development. Students are expected to submit only original work, with proper citations where applicable. Oral defenses or written evaluations may be used to confirm authorship.
If misconduct is suspected (e.g., plagiarism), students may be asked to revise and resubmit their work. Repeated or severe violations can result in probation, dismissal, or degree revocation.
Pledge of Integrity
By enrolling at Eldermont University, students affirm:
“On my honor before God and others, I affirm that the work I submit is my own and reflects the truth and diligence expected of a follower of Christ.”
Support & Resources
We encourage all students to seek support when in doubt. Proper citation guidelines, writing resources, and academic mentors are available to help uphold high standards of scholarly and spiritual integrity.
